Ashley Hayes Named Pepsi Athlete of the Week

Murray State's Ashley Hayes is the Pepsi-MSU Student-Athlete of the week after she scored 48 points and grabbed 25 rebounds in MSU wins over Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. Hayes was also a unanimous pick for this week's Ohio Valley Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week.

Hayes averaged 24.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in Murray State's two games.

Hayes scored a career-high-tying 26 points on 12-for-24 shooting to go with 11 rebounds, notching her fifth double-double of the season against Morehead State on Saturday and before that, she had 22 points and 14 rebounds against Eastern Kentucky on Thursday.

For the week, she averaged 9.0 defensive boards per contest, shooting 22-for-45 (.489) from the field and 4-for-7 (.571) from three-point range.

Murray State will visit Lipscomb this Saturday for a 7 p.m. game, then returns to OVC play with a Dec. 18 game at Jacksonville State.
