Townsel Named Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior wide receiver Derrick Townsel has returned from injury to put up some huge numbers for Murray State and for his efforts has been named the Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week.
Townsel (Memphis, Tenn.) capped off the best three-game stretch in Racer history by catching 11 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown in MSU's 51-21 Homecoming victory over Tennessee Tech on Saturday. The 199 receiving yards are the fourth most by any receiver the storied history of MSU football.
Over the last three games, Townsel has 27 catches for 525 yards and three touchdowns. Townsel had three catches for nine yards in limited action in the season opener, before missing the next three games with injury. Despite not playing in three games, Townsel still ranks 18th in the FCS in receiving yards.
