After putting forth a dominating defensive effort against Southeast Missouri State, Murray State junior defensive end was named the Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week. It is the second honor for Lane this week after he was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
Lane (Iola, Wisc.) spent the majority of Saturday's game in the Redhawk backfield as he finished the game with 3.5 sacks totaling 43 yards. Overall, Lane had seven tackles, four tackles-for-loss, a fumble recovery, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry.
Lane has been a force over the last three games as he has recorded 6.5 sacks over that span and raised his season-total to 10. He currently leads the OVC and ranks fourth in the FCS in sacks. He needs only one more sack to set a new single-season record at MSU. His 16 career sacks rank him third on the school's career list.
On the season, Lane has 51 tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks, two pass breakups, five quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick.
