Ivan Aska Named Pepsi Athlete Of The Week

Murray State's Ivan Aska was named the Pepsi Athlete of the Week.

The MSU freshman was also the Ohio Valley Conference's Co-Freshman Player of the Week after his performance in Racer games against Arkansas State and Western Kentucky.

Aska, a 6-7 forward from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last week as MSU was 1-1 in a pair of games.

Aska scored 20 points in an 89-61 home victory over rival Western Kentucky on Saturday, becoming the first MSU freshman to score 20 or more points in a game since Cuthbert Victor scored 27 against Tennessee State on Jan. 30, 2001.

He added 13 points in the Racers road 55-47 loss to Arkansas State on Wednesday.

For the week, Aska hit 68.4 percent (13-of-19) from the field and 77.8 percent (7-of-9) from the free throw line.
