Senior thrower Dominique Robinson has been recognized as the Pepsi Murray State Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 25 through March 2.
Robinson broke the MSU school record for the second time this season with her toss of 18.15 meters (59-06.75) at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, winning the event. Overall, the weight throw school record has been broken three times this season, and Robinson bested teammate Shameka Dial's school record (58-06.75) by exactly one foot.
Robinson also won the weight throw event at last year's OVC Indoor Championships, with a toss of 54'4".
Robinson also competed in the shot put at the OVC Indoors, finishing in second place with a toss of 13.78 meters (45-02.50).
The Huntsville, Ala. native has been a big part of the MSU track and field team's success early on in this 2008 season, as the team has broken seven school records and one OVC record in the indoor season.
The outdoor portion of the 2008 track and field season begins Saturday, March 22, at the Austin Peay Spring Fling in Clarksville, Tenn.
