Yamamuro Named Pepsi AOW For Second Straight Time

Senior Emi Yamamuro is the Pepsi Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive time.
Coming off a weekend in which she broke the school javelin record for the second time in as many weeks, was named Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 8.
This marks back-to-back weeks that Yamamuro has been honored with the award, which is the second time in school history that a Murray State track and field athlete has brought home the award in consecutive weeks. The only other time occured on Feb. 5 and 12 of this year, when senior Shameka Dial was named Field Athlete of the Week.
Yamamuro, from Toyama, Japan, launched the javelin with a NCAA regional qualifying toss of 158'-11” feet (48.44 meters) on Saturday at the SEMOtion Invitational in Cape Girardeau, Mo., which topped her throw of 150'-00" the previous weekend at the Bulldog Invitational in Starkville, Miss.
Yamamuro's most recent toss is the best in the OVC so far this season.
