Mike Perconte Named Pepsi-MSU Athlete of the Week

Perconte made his last appearance on the mound at Johnny Reagan Field a memorable one last Saturday in tossing his second-straight complete game as the Thoroughbreds handed UT Martin a 5-1 defeat in the first game of the three-game series.
He allowed just one unearned run on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks in improving to 4-4 on the season.
Perconte's efforts have put the ?Breds back into the picture for qualifying for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
Over the last three weeks, it would be hard to find anyone in the OVC who has been more dominant than Perconte has been. He is 2-0 in his last three starts covering 25 innings. His ERA during this period is only 1.08 to go along with 22 strikeouts and only three walks. Perconte has surrendered only four runs on 14 hits.
