Murray State freshman volleyball players Kayleah Sauer has been named the Sept. 1-7 Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week.

Sauer tallied 37 digs for the Racers during the Belmont Tournament, 58 percent of her total digs on the season.

The Louisville, Ky., native also added five assists and two service aces in MSU's three matches. For her efforts she was named to the Belmont All-Tournament Team.

The defensive specialist was a four-year member of the Mercy Academy volleyball squad that won four-straight district and regional championships and advanced to the state quarterfinals in 2006, the semifinals in 2005 & 2007, and was state runner-up in 2004.

The Racers will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend to compete in the Crimson Tide Invitational. MSU will first face South Florida (11 a.m.) and former conference foe Samford, Sep. 12 (4:30 p.m.) and then play host Alabama Sept. 6 (1 p.m.).
