Taylor Crawford Named Pepsi Athlete of the Week

Junior Taylor Crawford of the track and field team has been named the Pepsi Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3. The Owensboro, Ky., native started out the week being named the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week, then was named the 2009 OVC Outdoor Female Track Athlete of the Year and capped off the track and field outdoor season with two first-place finishes at the OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship and was named the 2009 OVC Female Athlete of the Championship.

Crawford earned her first top-finish of the meet in the 800-meter run. After earning the top ?qualifying spot on Day 1 of the meet, Crawford finished first in the finals with a time of 2:13.71. Crawford also won the Women's 800-Meter Run in the 2009 OVC Indoor Championship.

Crawford then moved on to take the top spot on the podium in the 1,500-meter run, with a time of 4:31.97, almost six seconds faster than her closest opponent and just .07 off the school record of 4:31.9 set by Nina Funderburk in 1989.
