Softball coach Jay Pyron has announced the addition of assistant coach Randi Wilson to his 2011 coaching staff.
“I'm really excited that Randi has joined us and that our staff is complete,” said Pyron. “She shares our vision of what being a Racer is all about and will help us achieve great things. Randi will have the opportunity to work alongside Kara Amundson, the best assistant coach that I've been around. Having Kara and Randi is a real luxury for a head coach to have and it will directly benefit our team in every way.”
Wilson will focus on scouting opponents and structuring practices along with assisting Amundson with the planning, registration and operation of camps and clinics. In addition, she will be in charge of the planning, organizing and overseeing of community service activities for the team. Softball was awarded the 2010 MSU athletic department community service award.
Wilson comes to MSU after acting as hitting and pitching coach in the spring of 2010 at Arkadelphia High School in Arkadelphia, Ark.
She was a member of the Ouachita Baptist softball team from 2005-09, helping them to its first post-season appearance.
Wilson graduated with a bachelor of arts in secondary education, art and kinesiology. She was named an NFCA Girls Got Game Academic All-American in 2009.
