
Murray State To Play In Great Alaska Shootout - Thanksgiving Week

The Murray State men's basketball program will be part of the 2011 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout during Thanksgiving week.
The host of the annual college basketball event, the University of Alaska Anchorage announced the pairings May 18.
The Racers will face UC Irvine in a game played Nov. 23. After taking Thanksgiving Day off, MSU will face Southern Mississippi or Alaska-Anchorage Nov. 25.
Along with host Alaska Anchorage, the Racers, Southern Miss and UC Irvine, other teams in the Great Alaska Shootout include: Central Michigan, Dartmouth, New Mexico State and San Francisco.
All games will be played a UAA's Sullivan Arena in what will be the 34th annual staging of the event.
There is also a women's portion of the Great Alaska Shootout. Alaska Anchorage is joined by Miami (Fla.), South Florida and another team to be announced later.
This year's tourney is scheduled for Nov. 22-26, opening with women's first-round action on Tuesday night and concluding with the men's championship on Saturday.
The Great Alaska Shootout is the longest-running regular-season college basketball tournament in the nation, taking place every Thanksgiving in Anchorage since 1978.
Murray State will be the first Ohio Valley Conference team to participate in the event.
