Murray State freshman cross country athlete Abigail Ashbee-Simmonds has been named the Murray State Pepsi Athlete of the Week for her performance at last week's Pre-NCAA meet in Louisville.

Ashbee-Simmonds set a new program record in the 6K last weekend running a time of 21:50.5. Ashbee-Simmonds finished in 18^th and led the Racers to a 12^th-place team finish out of 24 teams. The race marks the third time in four meets this season that Ashbee-Simmonds has been the Racers' top finisher.

The Racers are off this weekend as they prepare for the OVC Championships hosted by Jacksonville State on Oct. 27.
