Racers Set Mutliple Career-Bests at OVC Championships

The Murray State women's cross country team ran to a fourth-place finish at the OVC Championships today at Oxford Lake Park in Oxford, Ala., the Racer men placed 11th as a team.
Abigail Ashbee-Simmonds paced the Racer women with an eighth-place finish. Ashbee-Simmonds ran a career-best time of 17:35.25. Carolyne Tanui finished in 11th. Tanui ran a career-best for the Racers, finishing in 11th with a time of 17:52.02.
Rebecca Hbetamu also ran a career-best, finishing with a time of 18:11.86 and placing 18th. Abbie Oliver set a career-best in the 5K course running a time of 18:34.78 and finished 28th. Brittany Bohn finished right behind Oliver in 29th-place running a time of 18:35.95 which was a new career-best for her.
Leah Krause (19:22.18), Anna Grimes (19:28.54) and Bridget Stichnot (19:46.78) rounded out the times for MSU, finishing in 58th, 61st and 66th, respectively. Krause and Grimes set new career-bests in the races as well.
Lucas Prather led the Racer men at the championships, running a career-record time of 26:40.82 and finishing in 48th. Placing 56th was Jarred Koerner. Koerner ran a new career-best with a time of 27:09.37. Jordan Althoff ran a time 28:25.22 which was a career-best for him. Althoff finished 64th.
Not finishing too far behind Althoff was Clayton Hall. Hall placed 66th and ran a time of 28:31.08 which was a new career-best time for him. James Chute finished 68th running a new PR time of 28:40.50.
Chase Darnell finished in 29:43.18, a new career-best for him. Will Elledge rounded-out the Murray State times, finishing in 30:42.02, a new PR for Elledge.
The Racers will be off next weekend and will travel to Charlotte, N.C., on Nov. 9 for the NCAA Southeast Regional.
