Garrett Named Pepsi Athlete of the Week

Murray State senior forward Brandon Garrett has been named the Murray State Pepsi Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Racers' two victories last week against Belmont and Tennessee State.
Garrett averaged 11.5 points, six rebounds and compiled three blocks and a steal on the defensive end for MSU in the two key victories. He also shot 9-for-13 (69 percent) from the floor and went 5-of-7 at the line.
Against Belmont, Garrett scored 13 points and had two blocks and two rebounds in the 79-74 win. Two nights later, Garrett followed that up with his first career double-double against TSU with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go along with a block, a steal and an assist.
For the season, Garrett has five double-digit scoring outputs and two games with 10 rebounds. Garrett and the rest of the Racers will hit the road for their next three games. Murray State will face SIU Edwardsville on Thursday evening and will travel to play Eastern Illinois Saturday night. The Racers finish the road trip at Morehead State on Feb. 20.
