Finch Named Murray State Pepsi Athlete of the Week

Junior Breds pitcher Cameron Finch was named the Murray State Pepsi Athlete of the Week after he threw the first nine-inning no hitter in Murray State history last weekend against SIU Edwardsville.

Finch added his name to a list of seven other individuals who tossed seven-inning no hitters in their MSU careers. It was also the first MSU no hitter since Rich Garner against Tennessee Tech on April 22, 1986.

He finished the game by striking out five, and walking four, while throwing only 96 pitches.

Finch was also honored this week as the Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week, as well as the ADIDAS Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.

For Finch, it was the second complete game in his career, and the second time he was honored as the OVC pitcher of the week.

Murray State returns to action on Thursday as it will host a three-game series with Austin Peay. First pitch from Reagan Field is set for 3 p.m.
