Women's Tennis Ends Home Stand With Loss to SLU

The Murray State women's tennis squad dropped a non-conference match on Friday afternoon to St. Louis University. The Racers fell 5-2 in their first match of the season played at Bennie Purcell Courts.
Murray State (3-4) won the doubles point in for the fourth-straight match. The doubles tandem of Megan Blue and Carla Suga defeated SLU's Stephanie Hollis and Madison Cook 8-5 at number two. At number three, the duo of Erin Patton and Suzaan Stoltz won at number three, defeating the Billikens' tandem of Maria Moreno and Natalia Yacaman 8-6.
The matchup at number one doubles featuring the team of Ashley Canty and Carolyn Huerth went unfinished.
Huerth picked up the Racers' lone win in singles play, as she defeated Moreno at number five singles, 6-4 and 6-3. Blue pushed SLU's Brooke Urzendowski at number three singles to three sets, losing 1-6, 7-6 (7-3) and 7-5.
Canty fell at number one 6-4, 6-0. Suga was defeated at number two singles 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), while Patton fell at number four 6-4, 7-5 and Stoltz fell at number six 6-3, 6-4 to round-out the match.
The Racers end their five-game home stand going 2-3 and will return to action on Sunday as they will travel to face Memphis in a match beginning at 2:30 p.m.
