Suga Named ADIDAS OVC and MSU Pepsi Athlete of the Week

Junior women's tennis athlete Carla Suga has been named the ADIDAS OVC Co-Female Athlete of the Week by the conference office on Wednesday and was also awarded the Murray State Pepsi Athlete of the Week, for her performance last week for the Racers.
Suga went 3-0 last week in both singles and doubles play in helping guide the Racers to a perfect 3-0 in matches. Suga and doubles partner Megan Blue picked up a pair of 8-4 wins at number two doubles over Austin Peay and Belmont and followed that up with an 8-0 victory over Tennessee State on Sunday.
In singles play, also at number two, Suga picked up a three-set win over Austin Peay's Ornella Di Salvo, winning 3-6, 6-2 and 6-3. Suga then defeated Belmont's Catherine Holliday 6-3, 6-3 and finished the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over TSU's Attallah Eiland.
Suga has won six consecutive singles matches for the Racers, who are also riding a six-match winning streak as a team.
Suga and the Racers will go for number seven in a row on Friday as UT Martin comes to town for a pivotal OVC contest beginning at 2 p.m.
