2013 Murray State Volleyball Schedule
Eight home matches and three trips to the state of North Carolina highlight the 2013 Murray State volleyball schedule released by head coach David Schwepker on Wednesday.
Head coach David Schwepker said of the schedule, “I think this schedule is going to put us in a great position for the OVC portion schedule.” “If use the early season tournaments to our advantage”, said Schwepker, “and learn and grow from them, I think we will be in the position to have a successful OVC campaign.”
The Racers will kick-off their 2013 slate on August 30-31 at the North Carolina Central Invitational in Durham, N.C. The season opener will take place on August 31 in Durham against regional foe Evansville.
Murray State will return to North Carolina the following weekend when they take part in the Spartan-Aggie Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., hosted by UNC Greensboro and North Carolina A&T.
On September 13-14, Murray State will travel to Dayton Ohio for the Wright State Tournament, followed by a final trip to North Carolina on September 20-21 for the High Point University Classic. The Racers will also have two stand-alone non-conference matches this season, a September 10 contest at Evansville and a September 17 affair at Southern Illinois.
The Racers will open OVC play on September 27 when they travel to Cookeville for a date with Tennessee Tech. On October 5, MSU will host its first of eight home matches at Racer Arena this season against last year's OVC regular-season champion Morehead State.
The last home game of the season will be on November 12 against OVC rival Austin Peay. On November 16, the Racers will close out their 2013 campaign on the road at Eastern Kentucky. The 2013 OVC Volleyball Championship will take place November 21-23 at the site of the regular-season champion.
