Racers Sweep TTU; Host Belmont 7p OVC Championship

The Murray State volleyball team is heading to the OVC Championship match after sweeping Tennessee Tech 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-13) Friday at Racer Arena. The Racers will face #2 seeded Belmont in the championship match at 7 p.m. Murray State is now tied for the program record of 25 wins in a single season.
The Golden Eagles (15-19) started off the first set 3-0, but MSU (25-5) did not give up. The Racers went on an 11-3 run to take the lead 11-6. Murray State continued to dominate and put down kills over the Golden Eagles. MSU took the first set 25-16.
To start off the second set, Tennessee Tech took the first two points to go up 2-0. The Racers quickly bounded back and took a 13-9 lead, a lead they would never give up in the remainder of the set. Murray State continued to watch their lead increase until the finally took the second set 25-17.
Coming out of the locker room, Murray State looked to take this set and win the match by taking a quick 10-4 lead over the Golden Eagles. Â MSU would only let Tennessee Tech score nine more points for the remainder of the match as they took the third and final set, 25-13.
Taylor Olden had a match high 12 kills, while Ellie Lorenz had a match high 14 digs. Kristen Besselsen had a double-double off of 11 kills and 11 digs. Scottie Ingram put down 10 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Sam Bedard dished out 37 assists along with 8 digs. The Racers hit .308 while holding Tennessee Tech to a .087 clip.
Murray State will play in the championship match Saturday at 7 p.m. against Belmont at Racer Arena.Â
