Racers Dispatch of APSU in Three

In the first-ever Heritage Bank Battle of the Border Showdown, the Murray State volleyball team made quick work of Austin Peay Tuesday night at Racer Arena as MSU swept the Governors, 25-19, 25-16 and 25-14 in a match that lasted just over an hour.
The Racers (8-7, 3-0 OVC) hit .321 as a team in the sweep and held Austin Peay (11-7, 2-1 OVC) to just a .037 team attack percentage. Audrey Lewis led the way for the Racers with 13 kills while hitting .308. Scottie Ingram added 11 kills and hit .385 and also recorded her fourth consecutive double-double as she added 11 digs as well in the match.
Kristen Besselsen had nine kills on the night and also led MSU with two service aces. Besselsen also added 10 digs on the night. Olivia Chatman chipped in with seven kills and hit a match-high .545 in the victory.
Hannah Stultz picked up her second double-double of the year as she tallied 37 assists and 10 digs. In the back row, Ellie Lorenz had a match-best 16 digs in the three sets while Alex Kaufmann added eight.
Both teams had four service aces apiece with the Govs holding a slight 5-4 edge in total blocks. The Racers did give away eight points however via serving errors while APSU had just five miscues.
MSU returns to action this weekend for just one match as the Racers travel to Morehead State for a Saturday tilt. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m., Murray time.
