Racers Take Down APSU To Even OVC Mark

The Murray State women's basketball team scored a 67-62 win Saturday over the Austin Peay Lady Govs at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers (14-11) improved to 6-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while the Lady Govs (12-13) fell to 6-6.
After suffering through a five-game losing skid, the Racers have steadied the ship and have won back-to-back games.
Ke'Shunan James led all scorers by tying her season-high with 28 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go with eight rebounds in 40 minutes on the floor. Brea Bethea scored 18 points for the Racers and Kyra Gulledge tied her season high with 11 rebounds.
The Racers had an 11-8 lead at 3:15 mark of the opening quarter, but the game was tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter.
MSU took their largest lead of the game with 4:09 left in the second quarter on a jumper by James. By halftime, the Racers had a 24-22 lead after Jasmine Borders scored in the final minute.
The third quarter ended with Bria Bethea making her third 3-pointer of the game to push the Racers into the fourth quarter with a 45-37 lead.
Bethea gave the Racers a 12-point lead 49-37 with 8:30 to go as MSU had mounted a 16-5 run over about five minutes of game time.
The Lady Govs hit back-to-back threes to cut MSU's lead to 51-45 with 6:00 left, but the Racers hit 10-of-11 to seat the win.
The Racers hit the road for a Wednesday game (Feb. 15) at Eastern Illinois.
