Racers Off To A Solid Start At OVC Indoor Championship

The Murray State women's track and field team had a solid start to the 2018 OVC Indoor Championship at Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Ill.
Murray State is currently sixth with 23.5 points.
60-Meter DashÂ
Tamdra Lawrence placed the fastest time in the 60-meter dash of 7.50, just .08 seconds off her season high of 7.42, and qualified for the 60-meter dash finals. Jabreuna Brimlett and Antoinetta Avant placed in the top-15 with times of 7.79 and 7.81.
200-Meter Race
Lawrence was once again at the forefront for the Racers, finishing second in the 200-meter race with a time of 24.73 and advancing to the finals. Norma Abdur-Rafia will be joining Lawrence in the finals, as she finished fourth with a time of 25.17.
400-meter RaceÂ
Yet another event that Abdur-Rafia will be competing in the finals of, she finished sixth with a time of 57.75 in the 400-meter race. D'Myia Thornton was the next fastest Racers, finishing with a time of 58.66.
800-Meter Race
Hilary McAdam posted the fasted time for Murray State in the 800-meter race, finishing with a time of 2:18.94.
5000-Meter Race
Caroline Grogan came away with a time of 18:19.95 in the 5000-meter race, eclipsing her previous season best of 18:33.93 at Pittsburg State.
60-Meter Hurdles
Brimlett  stole the show in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.40 to advance to the finals. Avant finished with a time of 9.06 to qualify for the finals as well.
4000-Distance Medley
Murray State finished the distance medley with a time of 12:30.81.
High Jump
Aubrey Main placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m (5' 5'')
Pole Vault
Emily Heil hit a mark of 3.20m (10' 6'') in the pole vault for Murray State.
Long Jump
Brimlett  and Alison Woerner both finished in the top-10, with Brimlett  setting a season-best with a mark of 5.69m (18' 8'') and Woerner setting a season-best as well with a mark of 5.63m (18' 5 ¾'')
Weight Throw
Jewel Wagner set a PR of 16.55m (54' 3 ¾ '') as she finished first in her flight and sixth overall.
Pentathlon
Main placed third to make her way to the podium with an overall score of 3418, placing her fourth all-time in program history.
The Racers pick things back up tomorrow for day two of the OVC Indoor Championship.
