Murray State head women's basketball coach Rechelle Turner has announced the hiring of Jauwan Scaife as an assistant coach with the Racers, joining the staff this spring.
"I am extremely grateful to be given this opportunity from Coach Turner," said Scaife.
"I am excited to be part of the Racer family and am eager to get started."
Before to coming to MSU, Scaife spent the 2017-18 season at Evansville as an assistant coach where he also served as the recruiting coordinator and worked primarily with the perimeter players. Under Scaife, the Purple Aces led the nation in free-throw percentage in 2017-18, shooting 82 percent as a team, while Kerri Gasper was named Honorable Mention All-MVC.
Prior to his time at UE, Scaife was an assistant at Southeast Missouri for two seasons (2015-17). In his first season with the Redhawks, they advanced to the OVC Tournament for the first time in seven seasons. While at SEMO, Scaife coached All-OVC player Brianna Mitchell and Adrianna Murphy, who finished second in the league in assists with 174.
From 2013-15, Scaife was the graduate assistant and video coordinator at Ball State with the men's program, where he also spent his playing career from 2009-13. As a student-athlete with the Cardinals, Scaife finished his career 14th on the all-time career-scoring list at BSU, finishing with 1,326 points. Scaife was a Second Team All-MAC selection his senior season (2012-13) and set the program record for most career 3-pointers made with 203 in the final game of his career.
Scaife graduated in 2012 with his Bachelor's Degree in Sports Administration from Ball State and received his Master's from BSU in 2013 in Physical Education with a specialization in coaching.
"Coach Scaife is an outstanding addition to our staff," said coach Tuner.
"His work ethic, positive attitude and relationship building falls right into our servant leadership approach. His ability to develop players enhances our goal of helping every student-athlete reach their full potential."
