Georgia Tech Invitational Day One Recap

The Murray State women's track and field team competed in the first day of the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia.
100-Meter Dash
The Racers had a pair of top-25 finishes in the 100-meter dash on the first day of competition. Norma Abdur-Rafia led the way for the Racers with a 22nd place finish with a time of 12.20. Jabreuna Brimlett placed 25th with a time of 12.23. Daijah White was close behind with a time of 12.33 for a 32nd place finish.
5000-Meter Race
Caroline Grogan posted the fastest time for Murray State with a time of 18:16.66 for a 27th place finish. Her time of 18:16.66 is a season high for Grogan, which eclipses her previous high of 18:36.42 from the Margaret Simmons Invitational. Meagan Smith was next up with a 32nd place finish with a time of 18:24.32. Smith set a season high as well, as her previous high in the 5000-meter race was 18:31.85.
100-Meter Hurdles
Brimlett placed in the top-five in the 100-meter hurdles, as she finished fifth with a time of 13.50. Taylor McCammon finished 20th with a time of 14.55 and Aubrey Main finished with a time of 15.55.
3000-Meter Steeplechase
Murray State has a top-10 finish, as Ida Mutai placed ninth in the steeplechase with a time of 11.45:08.
Long Jump
Brimlett placed in the top-10 in the long jump with a mark of 5.59m (18' 4.25'') and a sixth place finish. McCammon finished with a mark of 5.12m (16' 9.75'') and Main finished with a mark of 5.12m (16' 9.75'').
Shot Put
Destiny Carey came away with a top-five finish in the shot put, as she finished fourth with a mark of 13.91m (45' 7.75''). Setting a season best at the Austin Peay Invite, Carey blew that out of the water, as her previous season best was 13.27m. Jewel Wagner finished 12th with a mark of 12.32m (40' 5'').
