Bagwell was twice a unanimous choice for the all-star basketball team of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
He was captain of the 1932 Murray team, and his career total of 936 points was a school record until the 1950’s.
He was his team’s leading scorer in 1932 and 1933, and his 33 points in a single game and his season average of 17.2 in 1933 were school records for several years.
