Lady Racers Second At Great Smokies Tournament

Murray State's women's golf team placed three golfers in the top 10, but it wasn't enough to catch host Western Carolina in the Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate Tournament held Monday and Tuesday in Waynesville, N.C.
Murray State shot 294-307- 601 in the 36-hole event to trail Western Carolina (592) by nine strokes in the prestigious 24-team field. The event was played at the 5,867-yard, par-72 Waynesville Country Club.
Once again Lady Racer junior Lee-Anne Pace of Cape Town, South Africa, led the Murray State charge, shooting a 72-75 -147 to finish third in the field of 125 golfers. She was joined in the top 10 by two of her Lady Racer teammates. Juniors Santie Koch and Cuyler Hedley finished tied for ninth after each shooting 151.
Nikki Orazine, a junior from Paducah, Ky., shot 74-78 - 152 to finish tied for 14th, while Lady Racer freshman Christi Baron finished tied for 50th with a 158.
MSU will close out its fall schedule with the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on Oct. 27-28 in Clarksville, Tenn.
