Junior Lee-Anne Pace and the Murray State Lady Racers set four new tournament records en route to sweeping the individual and team titles at the two-day Precept Intercollegiate at the Clarksville (Tenn.) Country Club.
Pace, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, fired a tournament record 2-over-par, 70 - 74 = 144 to win the individual title by nine shots. The first-round, 1-under-par 70 set a new tournament low round for the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, and the title is her second this season.
As a team, the Lady Racers placed four players in the top eight spots after firing a 306 - 305 = 611 to set a new tournament low score. The 305 final round score also set a new single round low which MSU had broken the previous day with its 306.
Birmingham Southern finished a distant second to the Lady Racers with a two-day total of 628, while fellow OVC members Samford and Tennessee Tech tied for third with 663's respectively. The host Austin Peay Lady Govs were fifth with a 665.
Pace, who has now won eight individual titles while in just her second season at MSU, was backed up by junior Nikki Orazine who tied for second in the field of 53 golfers with a 78 - 75 = 153.
Junior Cuyler Hedley, the 2002 OVC Player of the Year, and junior Ashley Kelbough each shot 79 - 78 = 157 to tie for seventh, while junior Santie Koch fired an 81 - 82 = 163 to earn 14th-place overall.
The MSU women's and men's teams combined for a two-day total of 1212, which was good enough to earn the combined team title as well at the Precept.
This closes out the fall season for the MSU Lady Racers.
