Pace Wins Gamecock Classic, Lady Racers Earn Second

Murray State junior Lee-Anne Pace outdueled Jacksonville State's Shanelle Howell in a playoff to win individual honors at the Gamecock Golf Classic in Calhoun, Ala., on Tuesday.

Pace's 72-73 - 145 was not enough to power the Lady Racers past host Jacksonville State, however, as the Gamecocks posted a 36-hole score of 608 to MSU's 612. MSU shot a two-day score of 312-300 in the 13-team event.

For Pace, it was the Cape Town, South Africa native's seventh individual title in just one and a half seasons and her first this season. She was tops among 69 golfers in the tournament.

Junior Nikki Orazine of Paducah shot a 79-75 - 154 to finish tied for seventh along with teammate Cuyler Hedley. The Cobourg, Ontario junior shot 77-77 154.

MSU's Santie Koch finished 28th after shooting 89-75 - 164 and Ashley Kelbough finished tied for 36th with an 84-86 - 170.

Up next, the Lady Racers will compete in the Western Carolina Great Smokies Championships in Waynesville, N.C.
