Sophomore outside hitter Paige Sun of the Murray State volleyball team became the first-ever AVCA All-American from Murray State and the Ohio Valley Conference, being named to this year's American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Honorable Mention Team.
Sun was also named to the AVCA's All-Midwest Region Team as well as to the All-OVC Honorable Mention Team.
"That is amazing," said MSU head volleyball coach David Schwepker. "I am very excited. I knew she was awesome; she certainly had great numbers for us. This is a great honor for her and for Murray State."
The 6-0 native of Beijing, China, led the OVC this season with 4.67 kills per game and was fifth in hitting with a .300 attack percentage. She also ranked ninth in the league with 3.96 digs per game and had 0.43 blocks per game. Sun ranked third in the OVC with 540 points (kills, aces, solo blocks and half of the block assists) and had a league-high 5.29 points per game.
Sun was the 16th player from the conference and the first from Murray State to be named to an AVCA All-Region Team. She was the sole OVC player named to an all-region team this season. This is the first season for an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention Team.
