Orazine Advances To The Round Of Eight At The State Am Championships

In a second round meeting of Murray State women's golf teammates, Nikki Orazine defeated Stephanie Baskey 2 and 1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the 77th Women's Kentucky State Amateur Championship at the StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, Ky.
The 29th-seeded Orazine, a native of Paducah, Ky., will tee off at 7:40 a.m. on Thursday against No. 12-seeded Marsha Bordas in a quarterfinal matchup.
Orazine completed her second season of competition at MSU in May with a second-place finish at the OVC Championships in Paducah, Ky., while the No. 13-seeded Baskey, a native of Mt. Sterling, Ky., completed her Lady Racer career with a third-place finish at the OVC Championships.
MSU head coach Velvet Milkman, a former standout golfer at the University of Alabama during her collegiate playing days and the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Racers to their second-straight OVC title in May, was eliminated from the consolation bracket on Wednesday after falling 2 up to Christi Baron.
The 32-player match play event is a single elimination event with the quarterfinals and semifinals set for Thursday and the championship match scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m. CT.
