Tickets are now on sale for the 2003 Murray State football season as the reigning Ohio Valley Conference champion Racers look to defend their title with an exciting 12-game schedule, including six home games at Roy Stewart Stadium where they were a perfect 6-0 last year.
Season tickets can be purchased through the MSU ticket office, and several different plans are available for the 2003 season. The renewal deadline for 2002 season ticket holders is Friday, Aug. 8, while season ticket sales will continue until MSU's home-opener on Aug. 30.
Season ticket plans for the 2003 six-game schedule include reserved chair seats for $225, reserved bleachers for $95 or the general admission family package, which includes two adult and two children's seats for just $75.
"We're happy to have six home games again this year for our fans," said MSU athletics director E.W. Dennison. "With the tailgaiting, kids zone, a great home schedule and a returning conference championship team, this should be a great year for our fans to get season tickets."
Head coach Joe Pannunzio and the Racers had a perfect home campaign in 2002, which included a dramatic 37-35 win over Eastern Illiinois in the regular-season finale to earn the program's eighth OVC title and its sixth NCAA playoff appearance. MSU returns many of the key components from that exciting title run.
The Racers open the 2003 season at Roy Stewart Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. against Valparaiso. MSU will also host regional rival Indiana State (Sept. 20) as well OVC matchups with Jacksonville State (Oct. 4), Eastern Illinois (Oct. 18, Homecoming), Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 1) and Tennessee State (Nov. 22).
"We're very pleased to have added the sixth home game (against Valparaiso), which gives our fans the best home schedule since I've been here," said fourth-year MSU football head coach Joe Pannunzio. "Our fans have become the 12th Man on the field for our team. The players and coaches can feel the support from our great fans, and we really appreciate it."
