McLean takes over the MSU rowing program after serving the last seven seasons as the head coach of the men's and women's rowing club at the University of Rochester, a Division III school in New York.
"We feel like we're very fortunate to have Coach McLean taking over our women's rowing program," Dennison said. "He's a very qualified person, and I feel like he will do a great job for us at Murray State."
Along with his duties as head coach at Rochester, McLean also gained valuable experience as co-director of the Stonehurst Invitational Regatta and the Wile E. Chase Regatta, two highly-attended regattas in the Rochester area.
"I'm very excited to get this opportunity at Murray State," McLean said. "I'm looking forward to working at the Division I level, and I can't wait to get started."
McLean, 35, earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 1992.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., McLean began his coaching career in 1992 with the Three Rivers Rowing Association, followed by stints at North Allegheny High School and Ohio State University before moving on to Rochester in 1996.
