Lady Racers 13th At 36-Team Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic

Two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Murray State opened the 2003-2004 women's golf season with a solid 13th place showing in the 36-team Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic last weekend at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Lady Racers shot a 36-hole score of 319-314 - 633 in the event, which was held at Bay Tree Golf Plantation. Coastal Carolina won the event with a score of 602.
MSU was led by reigning OVC Golfer of the Year Lee-Anne Pace who finished the first event of the season with a tie for 16th in the field of 186 golfers. Pace, a junior from Cape Town, South Africa, shot 77-75 - 152 in the two-day event.
Santie Koch, a junior from Potgietersrus, S. Africa, shot 80-76 - 156 to finish the event tied for 32nd. Junior Nikki Orazine, a junior from Paducah, Ky., finished tied for 55th after shooting 81-78 - 159. Junior Ashley Kelbough of Victoria, B.C., Canada, finished tied for 112th after turning in a score of 81-85 - 166. Julie Bennett, a junior from Paris, Tenn., rounded out the MSU lineup with an 87-87 - 174 to finish tied for 162nd.
Up next for MSU is the Louisville Cardinal Cup on Sept. 20-21 in Louisville, Ky.
