Shirley tied for sixth at 4-under, Racers in fourth after two rounds

The Murray State men's golf team finds itself in fourth place after two rounds at the 16-team F&M Bank/APSU Intercollegiate, played on the par-72, 6,841-yard Links at Novadell in Hopkinsville, Ky.
Sophomore Kyle Shirley leads Murray State, tied for sixth place in the 84-golfer meet with a 4-under-par 140. Sophomore Will Cox and freshman Michael Craft are tied for 21st with a 143, while sophomore Jamie Frazier is tied for 29th at 144 and Jerry Price is just six strokes back at 150.
After opening with a team score of 291 in the first round, MSU was able to bounce back in the second round with a 279, the second-best score of the round and the third-best in both rounds played today. The tournament will conclude with the final round tomorrow morning.
Host Austin Peay leads the meet with a two-round score of 561. New Orleans is second at 564, followed by Tennessee-Chattanooga at 565, Murray State at 570, IUPUI ar 571, Samford and Troy tied at 572, Detroit Mercy and Tennessee State tied at 574, Belmont at 575, Tennessee Tech at 577, Wright State at 581, Evansville at 589, Dayton at 593 and Cincinnati and Lipscomb tied at 595.
