Hayes Leads The Nation In Three-Pointers Per Game

Sophomore guard Ashley Hayes leads NCAA Division I in three-point baskets per game, averaging 3.3 per contest, marking the first time for any Lady Racer to lead a national category.
Hayes, a 5-9 guard from Kokomo, Ind., tied the school record with eight treys at Arkansas-Little Rock on Dec. 4, and has hit 19 three-pointers in her last three games. After starting the season missing on her first 12 three-pointer attempts, she has nailed 20 of her last 39 (51.3 percent).
Also listed among the national top 50 is senior guard Rebecca Remington, who ranks 18th in the nation with 20 points per game. Shannon Howell of Oregon State leads that category with 25.1 points per game.
As a team, Murray State (3-3) ranks among the top one-fourth in five categories, ranking 29th out of 324 teams in three-point field goals per game (6.7), 52nd in three-point field-goal percentage (.360), 59th in steals (11.3 per game), 65th in fewest turnovers (16.5) and 77th in free-throw percentage (.721).
Murray State hosts Arkansas-Little Rock (4-6) tomorrow (Friday) at 7 p.m. in MSU's Regional Special Events Center.
