Racers Compete At Southeast Invite In Final Prep Before OVC's

The Murray State men's track and field team closed out its preparation for the upcoming Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships this weekend at the Southeast Invitational hosted by Southeast Missouri State at the Student Recreation Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Leading the way for the Racers in the event, which was an unscored meet, was senior thrower Garrett Middleton and junior distance runner Tim Bradley.
Middleton, a native of Nashville, Ill., earned a third-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 51 feet, 7.75 inches. Bradley, a native of St. Louis, Mo., finished third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9 minutes, 8.76 seconds.
Other finishers for the Racers were:
Chris Champion, fifth, weight throw, 45-4.50; O.J. Elrington, fifth, long jump, 20-2.25; Brandon Manning, fourth. 55-meter hurdles, 8.09; David Claybrooks, fifth, 55-meter hurdles, 8.13; Chris Hobbs, second, high jump, 6-0; Jeremy Burkeen, sixth, 1-mile run, 4:37.20; Brandon Lancaster, fourth, 3,000-meter run, 9:12.08; Michael Sullivan, sixth, 3,000-meter run, 9:38.13; Patrick Hammond, eighth, 3,000-meter run, 10:05.00; David Claybrooks, second, 300-meter dash, 37.80; Ryan Stichter, third, 800-meter run, 1:59.33.
Up next, the Racers close out the indoor season at the OVC Championships hosted by Eastern Illinois University on Feb. 28-March 1 in Charleston, Ill.
