Lady Racers in ninth in suspended meet

The Murray State women's golf team is in ninth place in the 16-team Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiateafter one round, but the second round was suspended at 5 p.m. CT by lightning. The first round and the final round will be played tomorrow (Tuesday) at the 5,922-yard, par-72 El Diablo Golf and Country Club in Citrus Springs, Fla.

Yale leads the 16-team meet with a 308, followed by host Marshall and Eastern Michigan tied at 312. Murray State is at 322 after the first round of play.

Julie Bennett leads MSU with a 78, while Nikki Orzine has an 80 and Cuyler Hedley an 81. Ashley Kelbough has an 83, while Santie Koch has an 85. Christi Baron, golfing as an individual, has an 85. Cindy Shin of Yale leads the 102-golfer meet with a 2-under-par 70.

Play will resume tomorrow with four to six holes remaining on the second round. The final 18 holes will also be played tomorrow.
