Lady Racers tie for fourth at El Diablo

The Murray State women's golf team battled from a ninth-place position after the first of three rounds into a tie for fourth at the 16-team Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate.
The meet was held at the 5,922-yard, par-72 El Diablo Golf and Country Club in Citrus Springs, Fla.
Murray State shot a 322-316-302 = 940 to finish strongly, tying Yale, the team that was in first place after the first round. MSU's final-round 302 was the second-best single-round team score of the meet.
Western Carolina won the team title with a three-round score of 918, followed by Princeton at 932, Florida Atlantic at 937, Murray State and Yale at 940, Florida-Gulf Coast at 942, host Marshall and Eastern Michigan tied for seventh at 952, Bradley at 957, West Florida at 962, Eastern Kentucky at 977, Ball State at 984, Bowling Green State at 997, Western Kentucky at 1003, Nebraska-Omaha at 1038 and Evansville at 1061.
Individually, Ashley Kelbough tied for 15th in the 99-golfer meet with a 233, while Nikki Orazine tied for 18th with a 234. Julie Bennett tied for 24th with a 238, while Cuyler Hedley tied for 36th with a 243 and Santie Koch tied for 47th with a 246. Christi Baron, golfing as an individual, tied for 32nd with a 241.
Murray State next competes at the Samford Classic in Birmingham, Ala., on March 22-23.
