Racers tied for second after first day at Jacksonville State tournament

The Murray State men's golf team is tied for second after the first day of play at the Amoco Ultimate/Young Oil Intercollegiate at the 6,965-yard, par-72 Silver Lakes Golf Course in Jacksonville, Ala.
The Racers have a two-round team score of 609, golfing a 310-299 in the first two rounds of play. MSU is tied with Armstrong Atlantic State and is just three shots behind current leader and tournament host Jacksonville State.
MSU's second-round 299 equals the second-best single-round team score in the 14-team tournament thus far.
Jamie Frazier leads Murray State with a 150, placing him fifth in the 77-golfer field and five shots behind current leader Thomas Whittaker of Armstrong Atlantic State.
Nicholas Griffen is tied for ninth with a two-round score of 152, while Kyle Shirley is tied for 16th at 153. Will Cox is tied for 18th at 154, while Michael Craft is tied for 52nd at 162. Jay Cooper, golfing as an individual, is tied for ninth at 152.
The tournament's final round will be played tomorrow (Tuesday).
