Hedley Leads The Way As Lady Racers Finish Fifth At Samford Tourney

Senior Cuyler Hedley fired a two-day total of 152 to earn a fifth-place individual finish while leading the Murray State Lady Racers to fifth place overall yesterday in the 18-team Up the Creek/Applebee's Samford Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Timberline Golf Club in Calera, Ala.
Hedley, a native of Cobourg, Ontario fired rounds of 78 and 74 on the 5,802-yard, par-71 course to earn a top-5 finish in the field of 91 golfers while finishing just three shots off first-place Brooke Mangan of UAB.
Overall, the Lady Racers shot 319 - 308 = 627 to finish 14 shots behind first-place Jacksonville State. Birmingham Southern was second with a 619 followed by UAB (622) and Middle Tennessee (625).
MSU junior Ashley Kelbough earned a tie for 19th-place with an 80 - 78 = 158, while junior Julie Bennett finished tied for 26th with an 81 - 78 = 159. Junior Santie Koch tied for 36th with an 84 - 78 = 162, while freshman Christi Baron tied for 40th with an 80 - 83 = 163.
Up next, the Lady Racers will compete at the SIU Saluki Invitational on March 28-29 in Carbondale, Ill.
