Racers' Spring Recruiting Class

Murray State soccer head coach Mike Minielli has increased his 2004 spring recruiting class to 12 with the signing of Lauren Granger and Kiley Price to national letters-of-intent yesterday.

The latest signees join Liz Bennett, Courtney Buchanan, Kara Carlisle, Holli Cato, Jenna Kirkpatrick, Frankie Maynard, Jen Nowak, Jaclyn Ramage, Sara Struve and Molly Wolfe as a part of the Racers' 2004 recruiting class.

"With the 12 players we've signed this spring, I feel like we've made great strides in the areas we targeted from the first day of recruiting," said Minielli, who is entering his fifth season as the Racers' only head coach since its first varsity campaign in 2000. "This is a talented and deep class, and I'm excited about what each one of them brings to our program."

Granger, a defender/midfielder, competed at Castle High School in Newburgh, Ind., while Price, defender, played for Eureka High School in Eureka, Mo.

"Lauren is very athletic. The first thing we've got to do with Lauren is find her best position on the field because we feel like she can help us in a lot of ways. She plays well in the back and in the midfield, and she will help our team in both of those places."

-- Kiley Price

"Kiley gives us athleticism in the back. She is strong on the ball and a good attacking player from the back. We were missing those elements last year, and we fee like Kiley will do very well at Murray State."
