Senior guard Megan Fuqua was named to the 2004 All-Ohio Valley Conference Second Team. The 5-9 native of Beggs, Okla., was the sole Lady Racer to receive post-season honors.
Fuqua (pron.: FEW-kway) led the Lady Racers with 12.8 points per game. She set school single-season records with 72 three-point baskets, 181 three-point attempts and an average of 2.57 three-point baskets per game. She made 39.8 percent of her three-point attempts this season.
She also set school single-game records with eight three-point baskets (which tied for fifth-most this season in NCAA Division I) at Tennessee Tech and 18 three-point attempts against Eastern Illinois.
Fuqua ranked second in the OVC in three-pointers made per game (23rd in NCAA Division I) and in three-point shooting percentage (30th in NCAA Division I). She ranked 10th in the league in scoring.
She scored in double-figures in each of the 14 games prior to the OVC Championship quarterfinal game at Southeast Missouri, averaging 16.9 points per game in that stretch. During that 14-game run, she made 76 of 178 three-point attempts at an outstanding 42.7-percent rate.
Fuqua finished her four-year career at Murray State just one three-pointer shy of the Lady Racer career record with 133 treys, and two three-point attempts short of the MSU career record, putting up 365 threes as a Lady Racer. Her .364 career three-point shooting percentage ranks third all-time at Murray State, and her 1.231 career treys per game ranks fourth on the Murray State list.
"I think it's tremendous," said MSU head coach Joi Williams. "I am really proud of Megan, and I'm glad her efforts were recognized. She is really a testament to all of the hard work she put in from pre-season to the end of the year, and I appreciate her for that."
Players named to the All-OVC First Team were Gerlonda Hardin and Ashley Haynes of Austin Peay, Shanika Freeman of Jacksonville State, Emily Christian of Tennessee Tech and Katie Kelly of Eastern Kentucky.
Named to the All-OVC Second Team with Fuqua were Kandi Brown of Morehead State, Pam O'Connor of Eastern Illinois, Sami Jo Cotton of Southeast Missouri and Julie Young of Tennessee-Martin.
Named to the OVC All-Freshman Team were Megan Gearhart of Morehead State, Alex Munday of Samford, Kendall Cavin of Tennessee Tech, Andreika Jackson of Tennessee-Martin, Courtney Slaughter of Jacksonville State and Megan Casad of Eastern Illinois.

Voting on the All-OVC ballots was done by the league coaches and sports information directors. The All-OVC teams and honors were announced at the OVC Tournament reception tonight at the DoubleTree Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.
