Racer basketball's Shawn Witherspoon, Pearson Griffith, T.J. Wolf, Trey Pearson and Keith Jenifer, along with assistant coach Matt Grady participated in the event, which was held to raise money for the MES Parent-Teacher Organization with all of the proceeds being used for the teacher's room fund.
"We were extremely excited to help Murray Elementary in any way we could with this event," said MSU men's basketball head coach Mick Cronin. "It was also a great opportunity for our basketball program to spend some quality time with the kids at MES."
All of the MSU student-athletes were located in the "Racer Room" in the MES library, and each of them signed autographs, answered questions, handed out MSU posters and assisted with many other activities throughout the evening.
"I know all of our student-athletes had a wonderful time with all of the great kids," Cronin said. "We always look forward to giving back to the people in this community for all of the support they have given to us over the last year and to this basketball program through the years."
Over the past year, MSU student-athletes and coaches have visited with several groups in the local area including the Murray YMCA, Murray Middle School, South Marshall Middle School, Murray Elementary School and the Weaks Senior Citizens Center while also assisting with such events as the "Santa Project."
