Kraus named OVC Pitcher of the Week

Junior right-handed pitcher Craig Kraus was named the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, according to a release issued by the league office this afternoon.

Kraus went the distance against visiting league rival Samford on Friday, throwing a five-hit shutout and halting the Bulldogs' OVC win streak at 13. In nine innings of work, the Louisville, Ky., native struck out five and walked none, and made quick work of the Samford batters, getting a two-ball count only three times in the first seven innings.

Kraus is the only Thoroughbreds pitcher to earn this honor this season and just the second MSU player to receive a weekly OVC honor. Third baseman Clint Griggs was named OVC Co-Player of the Week on May 3.
