'Breds' Sunday game time changed; MSU players among OVC's best

The Murray State Thoroughbreds' Sunday game at Austin Peay -- originally scheduled for 2 p.m. -- has been changed to a 1 p.m. start. The Saturday double-header against the Governors will begin as scheduled at 2 p.m. All three games can be heard locally on WRKY (1130 AM, Murray).
'BREDS AMONG THE OVC'S BEST: Several Murray State Thoroughbreds rank among the Ohio Valley Conference's best players in several categories.
Clint Griggs ranks second in the OVC in walks per game (0.68), fifth in on-base percentage (.484) and sixth in runs per game (1.08) and doubles per game (0.38).
Jon Ross Shelton is sixth in the league in strikeouts per nine innings (9.25), while Tyler Pittman ranks tied for sixth in triples per game (0.08) and Billy Fares is tied for 10th in games started (10).
When counting only OVC games, Pittman leads the conference in earned-run average (1.33), is tied for second in hits per game (1.67) and total bases per game (3.00), is tied for third in triples per game (0.11), fourth in slugging (.720), fifth in home runs per game (0.28), tied for fifth in runs batted in per game (1.11), tied for ninth in stolen bases per game (0.22) and is 10th in batting (.400).
Billy Fares and Shelton are each tied for first in games started (6).
Griggs is second in runs per game (1.39), seventh in doubles per game (0.44) and 10th in hits per game (1.50).
Craig Kraus is tied for eighth in pitching wins (3), while Alex Stewart is ninth in doubles per game (0.40) and Austin Swain is 10th in walks per game (0.56).
All of these rankings are for games through May 3.
