Former Murray State football receivers coach John Lewis was named the assistant athletics director for life skills and fund-raising at St. Cloud State University.
Lewis, who was an assistant football coach at Murray State from 2000 through 2003, began his new role at the DIvision II Minnesota university yesterday.
Lewis, 33, is no stranger to St. Cloud State, as he served as a graduate assistant coach there from 1995 to '97. He played collegiate ball at the University of Minnesota, setting the Big Ten record for kickoff return yards in a single game.
Lewis earned a master's degree in sport management at St. Cloud State in 1997.
In his new role, Lewis will be involved in the day-to-day activities of the Life Skills program, and his fund-raising background is expected to bring an added dimension to the SCSU athletics department.
"We are excited to have John back on our staff," said Dr. Morris Kurtz, director of athletics at SCSU. "He is a young professional with a great deal of enthusiasm, and will be a tremendous asset to our department."
