Racers hit the ground running as football practice begins

Let the fall countdown begin! Tackles, line-of-scrimmage stands and signal-calling signaled the beginning of the 2004 season for Murray State today, as the Racers took the field for pre-season practice.

The Racers will practice every day through Aug. 23 at 3:30 p.m. at MSU's intramural fields between 16th Street and Waldrop Drive. Murray State has also scheduled six two-a-day practices, with the teams hitting the field at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 23.

Murray State opens its 2004 campaign at home on Aug. 28 against Glenville State. The Pioneers were recently picked third in its conference's pre-season poll, just one point behind second place and receiving two first-place votes. Glenville State also boasts two pre-season All-Americans.

Time is running out for Racer football season ticket renewals. The deadline to renew season tickets is Monday, Aug. 16. For more information on season ticket sales, call the MSU ticket office at (270) 762-4895.
