Lady Racers place fifth at APSU

The Murray State women's golf team finished fifth in the 17-team F&M Bank/APSU Intercollegiate, played on the par-71, 5,852-yard Clarksville Country Club course in Clarksville, Tenn.
The Lady Racers shot a consistent 333-336 = 669 to finish just three strokes behind fourth-place Eastern Kentucky and two shots ahead of sixth-place Belmont. MSU beat out Ohio Valley Conference members Tennessee Tech (seventh), Samford (eighth), Eastern Illinois (10th), host Austin Peay (11th) and Tennessee State (17th).
Individually, Christi Baron tied for 18th in the 90-golfer meet with a two-round score of 164. Julie Bennett tied for 22nd at 166, while Lauren Hughes tied for 29th at 168. Ashley Kelbough tied for 37th at 171, while April Steenbergen finished with a 181.
The individual titlist score's did not count towards a team score, as Belmont's Audra Williams, golfing as an individual, placed first with a 151.
Murray State has completed its fall season. The Lady Racers will return to action on March 6-7 when they host their Lady Racer Classic.
