Llewellyn's Overtime Goal Sends Racers Past Gamecocks

The Racers improve to 3-2-0 in the OVC and 4-8-1 overall. JSU falls to 2-2-0 in league play and 5-6-1 overall.
Murray State freshmen Rebekah Clay and Llewellyn continued their hot play of late. Clay got the Racers on the board in the 12th minute when she scored her fourth goal of the season, and her third in the last three games, off a corner kick. Sara Struve and Courtney Buchanan assisted on the play.
Joanna McCaughey's goal with just one and a half minutes left in the first period sent the teams to the break tied at one.
Nearly nine minutes into the second half, Jessica Fioranelli pushed MSU back out in front when she converted a penalty kick at the 53:51 mark.
Ashley Smith tied it again for Jacksonville State in the 71st minute when she scored off a Gamecock corner kick.
Llewellyn's game winner came at 97:25 and was her fourth goal in the last three games and her fifth of the season.
Jacksonville State out-shot Murray State 15-11 but both teams placed eight shots on goal. Annie Fortier saved six shots while playing the entire game in net for the Racers. Kate Kelly made five saves for JSU.
Next up for the Racers is a match with two-time defending OVC regular season champion Samford on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., in Birmingham, Ala.
