Chaney, from Ballard High School in Louisville, Ky., rushed for 310 yards (an OVC single-game record) on 41 carries, a Murray State record for carries in a single game (the previous record was 39). Chaney also tied the school record for longest running play from scrimmage when he ran 97 yards for a touchdown late in the second quarter.
Chaney, who converted from defensive back to running back three games ago due to injuries to the Racers' top three running backs, has now rushed for 527 yards in just three games for the Racers, taking over sole possession of second place on the team in rushing for the season. Chaney is averaging 6.9 yards per carry and 175.6 yards per game.
The 310-yard effort by Chaney was just the 12th 300-yard rushing effort in NCAA football this season, and only the second in Division I-A and I-AA.
This marks the second time this season a Racer has been recognized by I-AA.org, joining senior Nick Turner when he ran, threw and returned a kickoff for touchdowns for the week of Sept. 17.
The Racers return to action on Thursday night, ending the season at OVC rival Tennessee-Martin. Kickoff time is set for 7 p.m.
